The individual will be a driving force behind the Special Competitive Studies Project’s efforts to make recommendations to fortify America’s long-term competitiveness in the realm of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other emerging technologies that are transforming national security, economy, and society.

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Technical Program Manager with specialized expertise in AI/ML to lead and guide the technical direction of the Special Competitive Studies Project. In this role, you will not only provide technical insights but also spearhead the development and implementation of AI/ML models and algorithms. The ideal candidate will have 6-10 years of experience, along with an advanced degree in a relevant field and a track record of innovation in AI/ML technologies and applications.

Responsibilities:

• Provide high-level technical expertise and advice on matters related to AI/ML.
• Work with a team of researchers to develop cutting-edge AI/ML methodologies and strategies for analyzing national security issues.
• Conduct advanced analysis and evaluation of AI/ML technologies, identifying potential risks and formulating strategies for policy interventions.
• Spearhead the design, development, and implementation of sophisticated AI/ML models, simulations, and algorithms to meet research objectives and offer transformative insights.
• Establish collaborations with government agencies, industry experts, and academic institutions to foster partnerships and stay abreast of the cutting-edge developments in AI/ML.
• Direct the translation of advanced AI/ML research findings into actionable policy recommendations and strategies.
• Provide critical review and insights on policy documents, reports, and briefings, ensuring technical robustness and policy relevance.

Qualifications:

• 6-10 years of experience. 
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field with a focus on AI/ML.
• Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, and expertise in AI/ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Keras.
• Strong expertise in advanced AI/ML algorithms, model development, and deployment.
• Track record of innovation and thought leadership in the AI/ML space.
• Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with experience in effectively articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment and to manage multiple projects.
• A strong commitment to national security and a demonstrated passion for leveraging AI/ML to address global challenges.
